Another Approach is the uniquely different progressive metal band from the canton of Zurich. The band came into existence when five musicians from diverse musical backgrounds ranging from progressive to power metal, rock, blues, funk and soul decided to make music together. The resulting music is just as multifarious, incorporating spherical-emotional parts, hard riffs and intensive instrumental parts. The lyrics deal largely with themes drawn from life itself and are often seasoned with a grain of sarcasm.

Another Approach was founded in late 2013 when Cyril Hertz (Drums) and Oliver Kürzi (Guitar) both from the former metal bands Sawdust and Rough Gear combined forces with Fabian Graf (Keys) from former Indie band The Brainstorm Käptns and current pianist of folk rock band Qranium. First rigorous attempts were made to fuse the different musical elements and new songs were written until in the summer of 2014 the trio found Demian Thoma (Vocals). With his clean and soulful vocals, Demian provided and interesting and idiosyncratic alternative to common metal vocals and thus became part of the band. The band’s roster was completed in early 2015 as Luca Schmid (Bass) from former progressive rock band Brainstore and Escape to Orion (Thrash Metal) and current bassist for Andrin Albrecht’s solo project (ex. Obsidian Child) joined the band.

Due to the drummer studying abroad and the resulting absence, the band focused mainly on song writing, musical fine-tuning of the band members and recording. Now with his return the band is ready to hit the stage in 2016 with emotional and thrilling performances.

Finally, let it be said that Another Approach’s main goal is to enjoy their music and to become one as a band and not to be pushed into a musical genre. We want to create music that we love, drawn from the combined inspiration of every band member and play music that we feel is worth making.

Therefore, it is not easy to exemplify the musical style of Another Approach with simply one song, so stay tuned because more songs will soon be released.
